In your first paragraph identify and discuss the skills and attributes of an effective teacher and the best means of evaluating and assessing how "good" a teacher is. When considering the characteristics, behaviors, beliefs and attitudes of a good teacher, be sure to take into account your own experiences in school along with the information presented and discussed in class.

In your second paragraph identify and discuss the skills and attributes of an effective parent or guardian and the best means of evaluating and assessing how "good" a parent is. When considering the characteristics, behaviors, beliefs and attitudes of a good parent, be sure to take into account your own experiences along with the information presented and discussed in class.

In your third paragraph identify and discuss the skills and attributes of a successful student and the best means of evaluating and assessing how "good" a student is. When considering the characteristics, behaviors, beliefs and attitudes of a high performing student, be sure to take into account your own experiences along with the information presented and discussed in class.

In your conclusion identify and discuss (without using the word "I") what you believe are the most important determinants that directly influence and impact student performance. Why is it that some students are more successful in school than other students? You may wish to identify and discuss factors not previously mentioned in your response. Also identify and discuss education policies and practices ( ability grouping, retention, class size, social promotion, seniority, tenure, summer school, standardized testing, student portfolios...) you would maintain, discontinue and/or introduce in order to improve schools and raise student achievement.

Please remember to abide by the Dale Carnegie Principles (DCP) when composing your response. Do not name or identify specific individuals in your response for negative purposes. Dale Carnegie would certainly encourage you to express thanks and praise for a job well done... "Show honest, sincere appreciation." However, if your school or home experience has not been as positive then Dale Carnegie would advise you to "Call attention to peoples mistakes indirectly" by describing the qualities and characteristics of a "good" teacher or parent rather than making critical or negative statements about what people didn't do or say... "Don't criticize, condemn or complain."
